What This Role Involves
As Lead Analyst – Geospatial Data, you will oversee the collection, analysis, and interpretation of geographic information systems (GIS) data to support enterprise-wide initiatives. You'll direct geospatial research projects, mentor junior analysts, and translate complex spatial datasets into actionable intelligence that guides business strategy, resource allocation, and operational planning. Working remotely from Cape Town, you'll collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to define analytical requirements, develop sophisticated mapping solutions, and ensure data quality across geospatial platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end geospatial analysis projects, from data acquisition and processing through visualisation and reporting
- Manage GIS databases, spatial data pipelines, and coordinate updates to geospatial datasets using industry-standard tools and software
- Mentor and guide junior analysts in geospatial methodology, technical development, and professional best practices
- Prepare comprehensive analytical reports, maps, and visualisations for executive and technical audiences
- Collaborate with departments across the organisation to identify analytical opportunities and translate business requirements into geospatial solutions
- Evaluate emerging geospatial technologies and assess their applicability to company objectives
- Ensure accuracy, integrity, and security of geospatial data assets and metadata
What You Bring
- 3+ years of demonstrated experience in geospatial analysis, GIS applications, or spatial data management
- Proficiency with ArcGIS, QGIS, or equivalent GIS platforms
- Strong technical foundation in spatial data structures, coordinate systems, and geospatial databases
- Ability to work with large datasets, perform spatial queries, and develop analytical models
- Experience with mapping, remote sensing data, or location intelligence analysis
- Excellent communication skills and ability to translate technical findings into business language
- Proven leadership capability and experience mentoring or guiding colleagues
- Problem-solving orientation with attention to analytical rigour and data quality
