What This Role Involves

As a General Mechanic, you'll be the skilled hands keeping St. Martin Hospital's critical systems and equipment in top working order. This position bridges healthcare operations and technical expertise—maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing mechanical systems that directly support patient care and facility operations. You'll work with diverse equipment across the hospital, troubleshoot problems quickly, and ensure minimal downtime so the care team can focus on what matters most: patients.

What You'll Do

• Inspect, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment and systems throughout the hospital facility
• Diagnose mechanical failures using hands-on troubleshooting and testing procedures
• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment to reduce unexpected breakdowns
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests from various departments
• Use hand and power tools safely and accurately to complete repairs
• Document work orders and maintain detailed records of maintenance activities
• Collaborate with the facilities team to prioritize urgent repairs
• Follow all safety regulations and OSHA compliance standards

Skills & Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in general mechanical repair and maintenance
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and basic diagnostic equipment
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification a plus
• Current driver's license
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in various physical positions
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
• Willingness to learn new systems and equipment on the job
