Founding Designer (Code-First / 100% Remote)

About This Opportunity

Our talent team at Get A Job.ai is representing a well-funded European startup in the construction technology space. They're building AI-powered spatial design tools and need a founding designer who thinks in code first, canvas second.

This is a 100% remote role based in Germany (Karlsruhe region), offering founding-level ownership of the entire design system and product surface.

Responsibilities

• Define and build the design system in code using shadcn/ui as the foundation—covering tokens, variants, modes, responsive behavior, and accessibility
• Prototype directly in code with AI assistance (Claude or similar), so designs live in the codebase from day one
• Design the complete product interface: 3D canvas, viewport controls, property panels, dashboards, and onboarding flows
• Own iconography and illustration—either producing the work yourself or art-directing freelancers to maintain a consistent visual language
• Collaborate tightly with engineers where handoff is a code review, not a translation step
• Shape the brand and marketing surface as the company scales

What We're Looking For

Code-first mindset: You work in HTML/CSS/React and use tools like Claude to turn ideas into working UI. You don't need to be an engineer, but component files and the terminal are comfortable territory.

3D and spatial UI experience: You've designed for 3D, spatial, or canvas-based software—whether a shipped product, serious side project, or deep hands-on use of tools like Blender, Rhino, SketchUp, Cinema 4D, Spline, or game engines. You understand viewport controls, gizmos, camera behavior, and how 2D UI integrates with live 3D scenes.

Design system expertise: You've worked with shadcn/ui and understand how its tokens, variants, and primitives compose into scalable systems.

Visual craft: Strong icon and illustration skills—you can produce this work or direct freelancers to consistent, high-quality results.

Native responsive and accessible thinking: You design with light/dark mode and responsiveness from the start, not as an afterthought.
