Founding Analytics Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential technology company in the recruiting space that is building its data infrastructure from the ground up. This is a founding Analytics Engineer role where you'll own the entire data foundation—from core data models to the pipelines connecting systems, to the platform that enables company-wide self-service analytics.

Our client leverages AI agents extensively for analytical work, making data quality a critical force multiplier. You'll define how an AI-native organization structures, flows, and consumes data, setting standards that will scale with the business. This is a rare opportunity to build the data function from first principles and grow the team behind you.

Responsibilities

• Design and own core data models that serve as the foundation for all analytics and product decisions
• Work within product and engineering codebases to ensure data is captured and structured correctly at source, before it reaches the warehouse
• Build and maintain data pipelines connecting systems across the organization
• Create a genuinely self-serve data platform enabling product, growth, commercial and operations teams to answer their own questions
• Structure data to support AI agents as first-class consumers, enabling accurate analytical work at scale
• Partner with leadership on defining and tracking critical business metrics from acquisition through to product performance
• Transform ambiguous business questions into proper data models, meaningful metrics and actionable insights
• Establish data quality standards, definitions and instrumentation practices across the organization

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience building data foundations for consumer products or marketplaces, with understanding of what excellence looks like at scale
• Strong engineering and analytical skills—you can both model and pipe data, and interpret what it reveals about the business
• Comfortable reading existing codebases you didn't write, understanding how systems model and emit data, and making confident changes within them
• Fluency across modern analytics stacks including cloud warehouses, transformation layers, orchestration and BI tools, with informed opinions on appropriate tool selection
• Commercial and product mindset focused on metrics and the decisions they drive, not just query execution
• Platform thinking—you build reusable foundations that others (including AI agents) can build upon rather than one-off solutions
• Strong judgment, ambition and intelligence combined with collaborative working style and self-starting initiative
