Founding Data Analyst

About This Opportunity

We are representing a fast-growing talent marketplace in their search for a Founding Data Analyst based in London. Our client is building an AI-native platform that connects exceptional software engineering talent with opportunity, and they need someone to own their entire data foundation from the ground up.

This is a true founding role where you'll define how data is modelled, how it flows between systems, and how internal teams and AI agents leverage it to make decisions. You'll be setting standards that will scale with the business and building the function behind you as the company grows.

Responsibilities

• Design and own core data models that serve as the foundation for product, growth, and commercial decisions
• Work within the engineering codebase to ensure data is captured and structured correctly at source, before reaching the warehouse
• Build and maintain reliable pipelines connecting systems across the business
• Create a genuinely self-serve data platform enabling product, growth, commercial and operations teams to answer their own questions
• Structure data so AI agents can perform analytical work accurately and at scale, treating them as first-class consumers
• Partner with leadership on defining and tracking metrics that matter—from acquisition and activation through to matching quality and commercial performance
• Transform ambiguous business questions into clear data models, meaningful metrics and actionable answers
• Set company-wide standards for data quality, definitions and instrumentation

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience building data foundations for consumer products or marketplaces, with understanding of what good looks like at scale
• Hybrid skillset: both engineer and analyst—you can model and pipe data and interpret what it means for the business
• Comfortable reading existing code and navigating unfamiliar codebases to understand how systems model and emit data
• Fluency across modern analytics stacks (cloud warehouse, transformation layer, orchestration, BI tools) with informed opinions on tooling choices
• Commercially and product-minded approach—you care about the decision a metric drives, not just writing queries
• Platform thinking: you build infrastructure that others (including AI agents) can leverage, not just one-off solutions
• Intelligent, ambitious, strong judgment, collaborative personality who makes things happen proactively
