Forward Deployed Engineer | Merchandising

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential supply chain technology organization in their search for a Forward Deployed Engineer specializing in Merchandising, based in Paris. In this role, you will be part of the central engineering team working directly with enterprise retail customers across Europe.

Your core responsibilities include:

• Own technical delivery end to end, from discovery through go-live: configuration, extensions, integrations, and quality assurance for customer deployments
• Prove value delivery by instrumenting deployments, measuring outcomes against customer baselines, and presenting evidence credibly to operational users and executives
• Own the technical customer relationship, learning operations deeply enough to challenge requirements and become the first point of contact for new technical challenges
• Feed product development by capturing gaps and use cases from the field and prototyping solutions that can graduate into the platform roadmap
• Build customer self-sufficiency through knowledge transfer and clean handovers
• Support account growth by surfacing adjacent use cases, new sites, and unused capabilities, shaping technical solutions alongside commercial teams
• Support sales activity with feasibility assessments, proofs of concept, and technical demonstrations

This is not a consulting or solutions architect role. You will write production code and build production models that run in live customer environments. The challenge is delivering improvements that hold up under customer analyst scrutiny and run reliably in production every week.

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Proven experience designing and building software across the full stack in production environments
• Strong understanding of system design, observability, and hypothesis-driven development
• Experience building integrations for downstream or customer-facing systems
• Solid working knowledge of cloud platforms and modern application stacks
• Strong business acumen: ability to translate technical work into measurable financial impact and communicate clearly to non-technical audiences
• Comfortable managing ambiguity and taking full ownership of outcomes
• Willingness to travel and work on-site at customer locations during engagements
• Comfortable using AI in everyday work and developing AI tool adoption strategies
• Fluent in written and spoken English
• Must hold a valid work permit for France

Preferred qualifications:

• Exposure to retail, merchandising, or pricing and promotions
• Ability to learn new domains and codebases quickly and remain productive during the learning curve
