About This Opportunity

Our talent team at Get A Job.ai is representing a confidential diagnostics client seeking a Field Service Engineer specializing in Chemistry and Hematology for the Portland, OR area. This is a fully remote position supporting critical laboratory equipment used in clinical settings. You'll work independently to ensure optimal instrument performance, directly impacting the quality of patient care delivered by hospitals and reference laboratories throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Responsibilities

  • Perform troubleshooting, installation, preventative maintenance, and service repair on clinical laboratory instrumentation including Chemistry, Hematology, Automation, Immunoassay, Urinalysis, and related platforms
  • Provide technical training to customers on proper equipment operation and maintenance procedures
  • Maintain accurate service documentation, customer logs, and internal records within business systems
  • Order repair parts and manage inventory to meet service cycle time requirements
  • Travel within the Portland, OR territory with occasional overnight stays (approximately 15% travel)
  • Mentor and train newer field service team members
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to advance team goals and service excellence initiatives

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

  • Associate's degree, military technical experience, or high school diploma with equivalent hands-on experience
  • Minimum 1 year experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electromechanical, robotics, electronic equipment, or instrumentation
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
  • Physical ability to lift, move, or carry equipment up to 50 pounds
  • Willingness to travel overnight within territory approximately 15% of the time

Preferred qualifications:

  • 2+ years of advanced troubleshooting, installation, validation, and service repair experience
  • Technical college education in biomedical engineering or related field
  • Proven track record building positive relationships with customers and internal teams that drive satisfaction and retention
  • Experience working autonomously in a fast-paced service environment

Pay

Our client has indicated an hourly range of $33.65 to $38.00 for this position. The role is also eligible for bonus/incentive compensation and housing allowance. Benefits include paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, and 401(k).
