Field Application Engineer – Battery Management Systems (m/f/d)

Our talent team is representing a confidential automotive electronics organization in their search for a Field Application Engineer specializing in Battery Management Systems. This is a high-impact technical role for an engineer who excels at customer-facing problem-solving and thrives in dynamic, on-site environments. You'll serve as the crucial technical bridge between cutting-edge BMS products and tier-one automotive and industrial customers across Europe.

Responsibilities

• Lead on-site commissioning and integration activities at customer facilities, ensuring Battery Management Systems integrate seamlessly with electric powertrains and energy storage architectures
• Perform advanced trace analysis and debugging using industry-standard tools to diagnose communication and functional issues
• Manage incoming technical claims from customers; translate issues into actionable hardware and software bug reports for internal development teams
• Provide rapid on-site support during critical production or vehicle-level escalations, maintaining composure and technical excellence under pressure
• Represent technical interests in customer meetings and design reviews, building trust through solution-oriented engineering
• Conduct hands-on testing and validation of high-voltage battery systems in customer environments

What We're Looking For

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, or related discipline
• Proven hands-on experience with ECU development or automotive battery systems
• Deep working knowledge of automotive communication protocols including CAN, Ethernet, and UDS diagnostics
• High proficiency with Vector tools (CANoe, CANalyzer) or equivalent trace analysis and debugging environments
• Solid understanding of circuit design fundamentals and electric vehicle powertrain architectures
• Strong customer-facing communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders
• Fluency in English required; German language skills are highly valued for local projects
• Willingness to travel approximately 50% of the time to support partner locations
• Self-organized, proactive working style with a customer-first mindset
