External Communications Lead

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech organization operating across Latin America in their search for an External Communications Lead based in Mexico. Our client is part of a larger multinational ecosystem and is focused on financial inclusion, digital payments, and innovation within the financial technology sector.

This strategic role will lead external communications and public relations efforts to strengthen corporate reputation, position brand leadership within financial and business communities, and support business growth objectives. You'll serve as the bridge between the organization and its parent company's corporate affairs team, ensuring message consistency and strategic alignment.

Responsibilities

• Define and implement external communications strategy aligned with corporate objectives and business growth priorities
• Shape strategic narrative and storytelling that positions the organization as a leader in financial inclusion and digital payments
• Develop key messages, talking points, and executive voice guidelines for high-level communications, investor events, and public forums
• Advise leadership on communication opportunities and risks to support long-term brand equity and trust
• Lead media engagement and relationship management with top-tier financial, business, and technology journalists and opinion leaders
• Build and maintain strong relationships with editors and media professionals across relevant sectors
• Serve as primary spokesperson liaison, overseeing press releases, interviews, and editorial content
• Drive visibility and thought leadership for executives across key business and fintech platforms
• Design and oversee corporate social media strategy with consistent tone and professional engagement
• Identify and manage reputational risks and crisis scenarios in coordination with senior leadership
• Lead and coordinate external communication and public relations agencies
• Partner cross-functionally with marketing, brand, and product teams for cohesive messaging

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Political Science, Marketing, or related field
• 5–7 years minimum experience in corporate communications, media relations, or public relations roles
• Background in financial services, technology, or multinational companies strongly preferred
• Advanced proficiency in both English and Spanish required
• Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills in both languages
• Established relationships with tier-one media and opinion leaders
• Strong analytical thinking and creativity to build narratives with business relevance
• Proven experience managing public relations and communication agencies
• Expertise in media monitoring tools and data analysis
• High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure with sound judgment in crisis situations
• Social media management and digital strategy understanding
• Executive communication and presentation skills
