Engineering Manager, Managed Services

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential client in the cloud infrastructure sector who is seeking an Engineering Manager for their Managed Services team. This is a globally remote position where you'll lead engineers responsible for the day-to-day operations of complex distributed systems deployed on private infrastructure for enterprise customers.

In this role, you'll manage a team delivering managed services across modern cloud platforms and orchestration technologies. You'll be accountable for service quality, team performance, and customer satisfaction while collaborating with product engineering and operations teams.

Responsibilities

• Manage and grow an engineering team focused on both development velocity and operational excellence
• Monitor and improve team health indicators and performance metrics
• Implement and maintain disciplined engineering and operations processes
• Serve as the primary liaison with stakeholders, customers, and cross-functional teams
• Ensure team alignment on priorities, milestones, and deliverables
• Meet service level agreements for customer deployments across global time zones
• Deliver consistent, high-quality managed services on schedule
• Travel approximately 20% or less for team events and customer meetings

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a technology field
• Proven professional experience either in software delivery using Python, Go, C, C++, Java, or similar languages, and/or managing operations teams
• Demonstrated experience with OpenStack
• Strong commitment to testing methodologies and maintainable code quality
• Experience with Linux system administration; Ubuntu/Debian knowledge is a plus
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Experience with agile software development methodologies
• Proven track record working in and managing distributed teams
• Technical aptitude for understanding complex distributed systems
• Familiarity with cloud topologies and technologies
