Our client is expanding its internal development capabilities to work with leading biotech partners, creating a collaborative ecosystem focused on accelerating access to promising therapies for cancer patients worldwide. As Senior Director, Portfolio and Project Management Lead, you will drive the lifecycle management of drug development and commercialization within this partnership program. You'll establish processes, lead strategic decision-making, and ensure seamless onboarding and execution of external partner projects. This role sits at the intersection of strategy and execution, requiring deep therapeutic expertise and the ability to coordinate complex, global initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, schedules, and team charters; ensure global cross-functional alignment across development programs
• Support program leadership in establishing operational goals and KPIs for the partnership initiative
• Plan, track, and manage project milestones, budgets, dependencies, and critical paths for multiple concurrent programs
• Implement project and risk management best practices across the partnership portfolio
• Serve as alliance management lead for drug development partners, ensuring smooth external collaboration and high-quality deliverables
• Drive process improvement initiatives including headcount planning, budget control, dashboards, and risk management frameworks
• Track project status against goals and quality KPIs; identify and address improvement opportunities
• Organize and facilitate core team meetings to drive efficient discussion, alignment, and decision-making
• Ensure appropriate systems and technologies are deployed and properly interfaced with broader R&D operations
• Monitor competitive landscape and market intelligence to inform strategic development decisions
• Manage governance processes for the partnership program
• Travel domestically and internationally up to 20% of the time

What We're Looking For

• Master's degree required; PhD preferred
• 10+ years of experience in drug development or commercial roles within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, academia, or consulting environments
• 5+ years in leadership roles managing global, multicultural portfolio environments strongly preferred
• Solid knowledge and expertise managing scaled, complex global portfolios and programs
• Strong understanding of worldwide clinical trial best practices and regulatory requirements
• Experience in oncology or hematology drug development highly preferred
• PMP certification a plus
• Excellent interpersonal skills with proven ability to build relationships and interface effectively at all organizational levels
• Demonstrated sound judgment and decision-making abilities; capacity to quickly assess situations and provide effective solutions
• Detail-oriented mindset balanced with big-picture strategic thinking
• Fluent in written and verbal English
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports
