Engineering Manager – Analytics House

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential cloud technology organization in their search for an Engineering Manager - Analytics House. This is a fully remote position available across multiple time zones including the East Coast US, UK, Ireland, Estonia, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Israel.

This is a hands-on, player-coach leadership role where you will be deeply embedded with your team—participating in daily standups, code reviews, architectural discussions, delivery planning, and performance management. You will own both the team's technical output and its professional growth.

Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Growth

• Lead a team of engineers, owning both delivery outcomes and team development
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement through fast iterations and small, compounding enhancements
• Manage professional development through regular 1:1s, growth plans, performance reviews, and candid feedback
• Develop the next layer of leadership including tech leads and senior engineers ready for expanded roles

Technical Leadership

• Write and review code regularly, maintaining technical credibility through hands-on contribution
• Drive architectural and technical design decisions in partnership with senior individual contributors
• Uphold engineering standards through thorough pull-request reviews and healthy release processes
• Lead an AI-augmented team, applying judgment about where AI enhances work while maintaining quality standards

Roadmap & Delivery

• Own team commitments including scope, timeline, and quality expectations
• Run disciplined planning, prioritization, and delivery cadences without unnecessary bureaucracy
• Partner with Product teams on scope, sequencing, and tradeoffs while maintaining a clear roadmap
• Translate business objectives into actionable engineering work that aligns with organizational goals
• React decisively to changing priorities while keeping the team engaged and productive

Hiring & Talent Management

• Own the hiring process for your team, interviewing thoughtfully and maintaining high standards
• Make decisive talent decisions that uphold team quality and performance expectations
• Serve as a role model for other engineering managers across the organization

Communication & Collaboration

• Communicate clearly upward to leadership with appropriate context and prioritization
• Empower senior engineers to own key product areas while coaching team members on focus and impact
• Partner effectively across Product, Design, GTM, Customer Success, and other teams

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of engineering experience
• 4+ years in engineering management roles with active coding responsibilities
• Hands-on experience building cloud-based SaaS products on AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Production experience managing availability, cost, and customer-facing services
• API-first mindset with experience building products accessible to both humans and agents
• Strong background in databases, SQL, query optimization, and BigQuery
• Track record of measurably improving team delivery velocity, technical quality, or team caliber
• Deep technical fluency in your team's primary stack—current, not rusty
• Clear philosophy on hiring, coaching, performance management, and technical decision-making
• Excellent judgment under pressure with ability to make quick decisions with imperfect information
• Direct, candid communication style with ability to give and receive hard feedback

Preferred Experience

• Established AI-augmented workflow with opinions on applying AI tools and agentic workflows
• Hands-on experience with multiple cloud providers
• Background scaling teams, processes, or technical systems during organizational growth
