Senior Production Engineer

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential fintech organization seeking a Senior Production Engineer to own the health, resilience, and recovery of critical production systems. You'll spend half your time supporting production—responding to incidents, participating in on-call rotations, and deeply understanding system behavior under real conditions. The other half is dedicated to building automation, tooling, and observability platforms that reduce toil and prevent future incidents.

Your work will include:

• Designing and building comprehensive monitoring and observability platforms that surface the right signals and accelerate root-cause analysis
• Developing intelligent automation and self-healing capabilities that reduce mean time to recovery without manual intervention
• Analyzing incidents to identify systemic trends and engineering solutions that prevent entire classes of failures
• Building reusable runbooks, diagnostic tooling, and recovery playbooks that scale platform capabilities
• Creating golden-path operational workflows that make safe, reliable paths the easiest for engineering teams to follow
• Partnering with platform engineering to influence CI/CD pipelines, deployment safety, and infrastructure resilience
• Championing Infrastructure as Code, GitOps, and SRE best practices across teams
• Measuring production health through SLIs/SLOs/SLAs and driving engineering priorities based on reliability data
• Exploring emerging technologies including AI-assisted diagnostics that transform production operations

What We're Looking For

We need engineers who combine operational instinct with a builder's discipline. You should have:

• Strong hands-on Python skills for automation and tooling development
• Experience in SRE, Production Engineering, Platform Engineering, or related discipline with direct production ownership
• Proven track record building automation and diagnostic tooling that improved recovery times or reduced operational toil
• Deep familiarity with cloud-native technologies—Kubernetes, containers, distributed systems—and how they fail in production
• Experience with observability platforms and strong intuition for what good monitoring looks like
• Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and GitOps-based deployment workflows (ArgoCD, GitHub Actions, or similar)
• Familiarity with the broader technology stack: Java, Go, Kafka, Redis, Snowflake, and Postgres
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for ambiguous, high-stakes production problems
• A product mindset applied to operational tooling—thinking about usability, adoption, and documentation
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work across engineering, operations, and business stakeholders
• Self-starter mentality with ability to identify opportunities and deliver with minimal supervision
• Curiosity and continuous learning mindset; financial industry background is a plus
