Engineering Manager

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential logistics technology organization that is fundamentally reshaping how goods move in the digital economy. Our client operates at the intersection of advanced engineering and real-world operations, bringing together a highly technical team to solve complex problems in delivery and e-commerce infrastructure.

This is a hybrid role based in London, reporting into a leadership team that values both technical depth and people development. As an Engineering Manager, you'll be accountable for building and leading a high-performing team while staying close enough to the code to make informed technical decisions and unblock critical work.

Responsibilities

• Lead an engineering team focused on shipping outcomes that drive measurable business impact
• Set clear direction, coach engineers and tech leads, and ensure reliable delivery from concept to production
• Actively review meaningful code changes, pair on complex problems, and step in on high-impact or time-sensitive work when needed
• Work closely with Product, Design, and Operations to make explicit tradeoffs and maintain focus on what matters most
• Continuously raise standards across developer velocity, code quality, observability, incident response, and product engagement
• Diagnose root causes when execution slows and take action to move the quality bar higher
• Hire strong engineers, deliver direct and timely feedback, run fair performance processes, and support long-term growth
• Own outcomes end-to-end, turning ambiguity into actionable plans and plans into real-world results

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience as an Engineering Manager or Senior Engineer transitioning into leadership, with strong technical fundamentals in software engineering
• Comfort spending most of your time leading and enabling others while remaining capable of diving into technical work when it matters
• Deep understanding of systems and architecture, sufficient to make sound technical calls and raise the quality bar through example
• Track record of building teams that execute reliably and at pace in fast-moving, ambiguous environments
• Clear communication skills with the ability to give direct feedback, listen carefully, and collaborate deliberately
• Ownership mindset—you don't wait for permission to improve things and will tackle any problem that unblocks the team or improves results
• Care for end users: couriers, retailers, operatives, teammates, and consumers who depend on the systems you build
• Ability to bring structure through action rather than process or ceremony
• Right to work in the UK (visa sponsorship details available upon application)
