Director of Operations, Data Science

We are representing a confidential experiential marketing agency seeking a Director of Operations, Data Science to join their team in Gambia. This role bridges business strategy and technical execution, directing data science initiatives that drive both internal optimization and client-facing solutions.

Our client operates at the intersection of physical, digital, and social experiences, leveraging data and analytics to create meaningful brand connections. As Director of Operations for their Data Science team, you'll translate business priorities into executable technical strategies while managing agile development processes.

Responsibilities

• Direct the Data Science team's execution of ongoing workstreams and internal business optimization initiatives
• Manage the team's Agile development process, including epic planning, backlog grooming, sprint planning, and sprint reviews
• Serve as primary liaison between data science capabilities and stakeholders across growth, strategy, enablement, finance, and other departments
• Coordinate with technology and product teams to align data science efforts with broader platform roadmaps
• Facilitate requirements-gathering sessions and results presentations for key client engagements
• Collaborate with project leads to develop data science solutions for selected client opportunities
• Participate in client workshops and business development presentations
• Translate complex analytical concepts into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences

What We're Looking For

• Product ownership background with proven ability to shape business optimization strategy
• Strong experience managing Agile development processes and cross-functional coordination
• Expertise in translating business needs into technical requirements
• Excellent communication skills with ability to convey complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders
• Technical proficiency with database concepts and project management systems like Jira
• Experience with business intelligence platforms such as Tableau, PowerBI, or similar tools
• Ability to transform raw data into compelling dashboards and visualizations that drive decisions
• Comfort working with knowledge workers, creators, and subject matter experts across disciplines
• Experience supporting both internal optimization and client-facing data science projects
