Director, Field Translational Science — Oncology

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential molecular diagnostics organization that is expanding their field science leadership in oncology. This is a high-impact Director role where you will build and lead a specialized team of field-facing translational scientists focused on advanced liquid biopsy technologies and real-world evidence generation across elite academic medical centers.

This position requires a strategic leader who can operate at the intersection of commercial field operations, clinical research, and translational science. You will own the scientific infrastructure that enables investigator-led data collaborations, directly managing team performance and regional data partnerships. Expect 50-70% travel to engage with institutional leadership and audit high-priority research partnerships across your region.

Responsibilities

• Build, hire, and manage a premier field organization of translational scientists, establishing clear performance metrics tied to regional data velocity, scientific rigor, and publication quality
• Author and execute the regional data engagement strategy, guiding how field scientists partner with oncologists, pathologists, and biometricians to unlock complex ctDNA and real-world datasets
• Oversee secure regional tracking architecture and data ingestion pipelines; ensure absolute data compliance, system integrity, and streamlined data flow from investigator sites into internal analysis platforms
• Command the interface between field operations and internal translational medicine, medical affairs, R&D, and product development leadership
• Oversee the lifecycle of regional investigator-initiated trials and institutional registries, ensuring statistical robustness and prompt manuscript generation
• Secure and scale institutional data-sharing models, biobanking governance, and EMR data-integration initiatives with comprehensive cancer networks
• Represent our client as senior scientific authority at major oncology congresses while maintaining compliance with HIPAA, CAP/CLIA, PHI protocols, and FDA regulations

What We're Looking For

• Education: PhD or MD in Cancer Biology, Genomics, Bioinformatics, or related molecular science discipline
• Experience: 6+ years in translational oncology research, including minimum 2+ years managing high-performing scientific or clinical teams within diagnostics, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical sectors
• Technical expertise: Exceptional command of cancer biology and genetics, liquid biopsy modalities, next-generation sequencing (NGS), ctDNA workflows and data interpretation, and statistical methods
• Data capabilities: Documented success managing complex genomic datasets, institutional EMR integrations, or clinical data registries
• Leadership style: Proven ability to manage teams through high ambiguity, prioritizing structured logic and rapid, high-judgment decision-making
• Travel: Ability and willingness to travel domestically 50-70% to support team execution, site audits, and principal investigator collaborations

Pay

Pay via Get A Job.ai: $150,000–$220,000 USD. Final compensation will be based on your specific experience, technical depth, leadership background, and location within the United States. This is a remote US position.
