Devices & IOT Field Engineering Manager (Americas)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential open-source technology organization seeking an experienced Devices & IoT Field Engineering Manager to lead a regionally-focused team across the Americas. This is a fully remote leadership role supporting enterprise customers in their embedded Linux and IoT initiatives.

Our client enables organizations to build secure, connected device fleets at scale. Their field engineering teams serve as trusted technical advisors during presales engagements and professional services delivery, helping customers architect and implement mission-critical control systems, gateways, and connected appliances.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of field engineers ranging from graduate to senior level across presales and professional services functions
• Plan and drive progress on agreed goals and projects while partnering with cross-functional leadership
• Coach, mentor, and provide career development feedback to team members
• Serve as a trusted technical advisor to customers, solving problems and promoting solutions
• Identify and measure team health indicators while implementing disciplined engineering processes
• Represent your team to stakeholders, partners, and customers
• Provide market feedback to product and engineering teams
• Champion engineering excellence and organizational best practices

What We're Looking For

• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• Extensive embedded Linux experience (Yocto or similar build systems)
• Deep Linux expertise, preferably with Debian-based distributions
• Proven ability to manage and develop technical teams
• Experience with customer-facing technical engagements
• Professional written and spoken English
• Strong interpersonal skills with curiosity, flexibility, and accountability
• Results-oriented with ability to meet commitments
• Capability to communicate business benefits of technology solutions
• Willingness to travel internationally twice yearly for team events

Desired skills: RTOS experience, additional programming or human languages, previous remote-first distributed team experience
