Distributed Systems Testing Software Engineer, Python / Go

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential open-source technology organization seeking a Distributed Systems Testing Software Engineer with expertise in Python or Go. This is a fully remote position open to candidates anywhere in the world.

Our client is a global leader in enterprise open-source solutions, supporting breakthrough initiatives in cloud infrastructure, data science, AI, and IoT. Their distributed team collaborates across 75+ countries, meeting in person 2-4 times per year for strategic alignment.

The Quality Engineering team is seeking an engineer who views testing as a first-class engineering practice. You'll build and validate resilient distributed systems, develop CI pipelines for cloud integration testing, and advance automated analysis capabilities across diverse deployment environments—from bare metal data centers to major public clouds.

Responsibilities

• Create automated testing approaches and infrastructure for validating reliability, performance, and resilience of cloud orchestration tools and applications
• Enable engineering teams across the organization to develop software with confidence by making distributed system testing tooling available company-wide
• Enhance continuous integration pipelines for deploying and testing cloud-native products
• Deploy, manage, and debug highly distributed systems on cloud platforms and bare metal infrastructure
• Monitor and report on automated testing efforts with a data-driven approach
• Collaborate daily with a globally distributed engineering team
• Drive new testing initiatives and advance AI/ML pipelines for automatic test result analysis

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Solid background in modern test processes and strategies
• Professional experience with Python or Go development
• Strong object-oriented development skills
• Working knowledge of continuous integration tools such as Jenkins, CircleCI, or GitHub Actions
• Knowledge of networking technologies and fundamentals
• Solid understanding of Linux system architecture
• Complex abstract thinking and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to travel internationally 2-4 weeks per year

Preferred qualifications:

• Ability to develop and ship modern production-grade web applications
• Experience operating data platforms: key-value stores, relational or document databases, event buses
• Data collection and analytics skills for large multidimensional datasets
• Experience with AI/ML pipelines
• Experience with cloud technologies such as OpenStack, Kubernetes, Terraform, and AWS
