Critical Facility Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential technology infrastructure organization seeking a Critical Facility Engineer to join their data center operations team. This hands-on role is essential to maintaining the physical systems that support large-scale computing operations. You'll work as part of a facility operations team responsible for the reliability, efficiency, and safety of mission-critical infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on operations and maintenance of critical systems including electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and control systems to ensure maximum uptime and efficiency
• Complete work order requests accurately and on time using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
• Achieve and maintain high-level technical knowledge of data center infrastructure through personnel qualification standards (PQS) training
• Respond quickly to facility emergencies using established procedures and emergency operating protocols
• Conduct regular inspections of equipment, buildings, safety routes, and grounds to identify abnormal or unsafe conditions
• Troubleshoot systems, evaluate performance, and recommend upgrades
• Order parts and supplies for maintenance and repairs
• Coordinate with vendors and contractors to ensure work meets facility standards and processes
• Escalate issues to facility management appropriately and in a timely manner
• Assist in scheduling and supervising vendors and subcontractors during equipment maintenance and service
• Provide ongoing recommendations for improvements to operations and maintenance programs
• Utilize computerized tools in a control room environment to operate remote equipment, monitor system alerts, diagnose faults, and prioritize resource dispatching
• Work on a shift schedule that may include nights, weekends, and holidays

What We're Looking For

Required:

• 5+ years of experience in electrical, HVAC, mechanical, controls, or other technical maintenance field
• OR Associate's degree in engineering plus 3+ years of relevant experience
• OR Bachelor's degree in a related field plus 2+ years of relevant experience
• Broad experience across electrical generation, electrical distribution, cooling technologies, building control systems, and fire protection systems
• Physical ability to regularly walk job sites with flat and uneven terrain, work at heights and from ladders, reach/push/pull with hands/arms/shoulders, stoop/kneel/crouch/crawl, and lift 45 pounds or more
• Ability to sit or stand at a workstation for extended periods

Preferred:

• 3+ years of experience in a data center or other critical environment (pharmaceutical, clean room, medical, power production)
• Trade certification or state license in Electrical or Mechanical (HVAC)
• Professional affiliations such as 7x24 Exchange, IFMA, or Data Center Pulse
• Knowledge of CMMS systems
• Experience with critical facilities operations
• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and life safety monitoring and control systems used in critical environments
• Experience interpreting blueprints and CAD drawings
• Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize workflows and drive measurable impact
• Experience with responsible and ethical AI practices including risk assessment and bias mitigation
• Ongoing AI skill development in areas such as prompt engineering and agent orchestration
