Controller – Performance, Analytics & BI (m/w/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential professional services organization in München that is building out its finance analytics function. Our talent team is seeking an experienced Controller with strong BI and data visualization skills to establish performance management systems and drive decision-making through actionable insights.

This is a hands-on role where you'll work directly with senior leadership to develop KPI frameworks, automate reporting, and create data-driven steering mechanisms across the organization. You'll have significant autonomy to shape how financial and operational data supports strategic decisions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive KPI and reporting systems for management, business units, and locations
• Establish plan-versus-actual comparisons and automated early warning systems for cost and budget monitoring
• Analyze profitability, contribution margins, productivity, utilization, work-in-progress, and working capital metrics
• Ensure data quality across planning inputs, master data, and time tracking systems
• Advance project planning, capacity planning, personnel planning, and financial forecasting capabilities
• Conduct monthly reporting and steering discussions with partners and leadership, tracking action items through to completion
• Maximize utilization of existing controlling software and supplement with custom Power BI solutions where appropriate
• Build partner-level Power BI dashboards and automated reports integrating data from controlling systems, accounting platforms, HRIS, and other sources
• Develop data models and reporting structures that translate complex information into clear decision support

What We're Looking For

• Several years of substantial controlling experience, ideally having built or significantly developed a controlling or reporting function
• Advanced Power BI skills with ability to independently build data models, dashboards, and permission concepts
• Strong affinity for numbers and data; comfort working with Excel, raw data, data models, and complex analytical logic
• Understanding of controlling as active business steering—ability to translate numbers into understandable insights, challenge critically, and identify concrete actions
• Executive presence to conduct steering and planning discussions with partners and management as peers, with consistent follow-through
• Highly independent, structured, and solution-oriented working style without need for detailed supervision
• Commitment to data quality and clean processes as foundational to effective controlling
• Experience in professional services, consulting, or similar environments is advantageous but not required
• Ability to quickly learn new systems and data structures, recognize relationships, and leverage existing tools for better steering
• German language proficiency required for this role in München
