About the Role
As an Academic Mentor and Student Success Coach with City Year, you'll be embedded in a school community where your daily work directly impacts student outcomes. This full-time AmeriCorps position combines mentoring, classroom support, and school-wide initiatives designed to help every student graduate prepared for college, career, and life.
What You'll Do
- Mentor individual students on academic skills, goal-setting, and personal growth
- Co-teach and support classroom instruction to reinforce student learning
- Collaborate with teachers and school staff to identify and support struggling students
- Build relationships with families to strengthen home-school connections
- Participate in whole-school initiatives that foster positive school culture and engagement
- Track student progress and adjust mentoring strategies based on demonstrated needs
- Contribute to a diverse team of AmeriCorps members serving the same school community
