About the Role

This is hands-on, relationship-driven work. You'll spend your days building trust with students, unlocking their potential through focused academic support, and helping them navigate obstacles to learning. As part of a committed City Year team, you'll tutor students in core subjects while mentoring them through real challenges—both academic and personal—that stand in the way of their progress.

What You'll Do

• Deliver one-on-one and small-group tutoring in reading, mathematics, and essential academic skills
• Mentor students through goal-setting, study strategies, and resilience in learning
• Work closely with teachers to align your tutoring with classroom priorities and student needs
• Support classroom operations and contribute to positive school culture and community
• Track student progress, adjust your instructional approach, and celebrate growth with families and school staff
• Engage in ongoing professional development to deepen your tutoring expertise

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with comfort working across diverse student populations
• Reliability, responsibility, and readiness to commit to full-time school-based work
• Flexibility and openness to learning and adapting based on feedback and student needs
• A bachelor's degree from an accredited university or equivalent experience that demonstrates readiness for the role
