About the Role

As an AmeriCorps Academic Mentor with City Year, you'll serve as a student success coach, providing one-on-one and small-group academic support to help students achieve their educational goals. This full-time role combines direct mentorship, targeted academic support, and collaborative school engagement to foster student growth and academic progress.

What You'll Do

  • Coach individual students and small groups in core academic areas to build engagement and strengthen performance
  • Partner with classroom teachers to reinforce learning objectives and support instructional goals
  • Work collaboratively with school teams to identify students needing academic and social-emotional support
  • Build meaningful relationships with students that inspire motivation, confidence, and academic persistence
  • Contribute to whole-school initiatives that create a culture of student success and belonging
  • Monitor student progress and communicate with teachers and families about academic growth
