Cast Member

City Year is hiring a full-time Cast Member in Concord, Merrimack County, to serve as an AmeriCorps Member in public schools. In this hands-on education role, you'll make a direct difference in students' academic achievement and social-emotional development through mentoring, tutoring, and classroom support.

What This Role Involves

As a Cast Member with City Year, you'll work directly with students in Concord public schools, serving as both an academic tutor and a mentor. This is an AmeriCorps service role focused on closing opportunity gaps and strengthening student outcomes. You'll spend your day in classrooms and with small groups of students, building relationships while delivering targeted academic support and guidance. The work is collaborative—you'll partner with school staff, fellow City Year team members, and other school-based partners to create an environment where all students can succeed.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one and small-group tutoring in core academic subjects to support student learning
• Mentor individual students and help them develop social-emotional skills and resilience
• Assist teachers in classroom instruction and classroom management
• Facilitate targeted small-group interventions designed to address specific student learning needs
• Collaborate with school staff to identify and support students who need additional academic or behavioral support
• Contribute to a positive, inclusive school culture through consistent presence and engagement

Skills & Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively with young people from diverse backgrounds
• Commitment to equity, inclusion, and student success
• Reliability and flexibility in a school-based environment
• Prior experience working with or mentoring students is a plus
