Coder, Provider Practice – Hospitalist

Our talent team at Get A Job.ai is representing a confidential healthcare organization seeking a Coder, Provider Practice - Hospitalist for a remote position in the United States. This role offers the opportunity to work with a major health system, supporting providers through accurate coding and documentation while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

As a coding professional, you'll serve as a vital resource for physicians and healthcare providers, helping them understand covered indications, supporting documentation requirements, and proper charge capture. This position involves working across multiple service lines including provider clinics, ambulatory surgery centers, and hospital professional services.

Responsibilities

• Review medical documentation from physicians and healthcare providers; assign modifiers, diagnostic codes (ICD-10-CM), and procedure codes (CPT, HCPCS) according to official classification systems and standards
• Audit medical record documentation to ensure accuracy and substantiate appropriate service reimbursement
• Support Medicare and commercial carrier workflows related to daily coding, denial review, and appeals management, including preparation of supporting documents
• Monitor and validate physician charge capture across provider practices and ambulatory surgery centers
• Maintain thorough understanding of National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) edits and relative value units
• Convey coding guidelines to physicians and healthcare providers to improve accuracy of medical record documentation
• Participate in coding team meetings and serve as a subject matter expert
• Use policies, procedures, and judgment to determine compliance with laws, regulations, and coding standards
• Provide accurate and timely coding in accordance with official coding standards and regulatory compliance guidelines

What We're Looking For

• Required: Associate degree in Health Information Technology OR current coding certification
• Required certification (must hold one of the following at hire or obtain within one year): RHIA, RHIT, CPC, CPC-A, CCS, CCS-P, CCS-H, or COC
• Knowledge of diagnostic and procedural terminology with successful coursework from an accredited institution in ICD diagnosis coding, CPT, and HCPCS coding schemes
• Background in medical terminology or human anatomy/physiology preferred
• Computer skills with ability to interpret, analyze, and abstract data and documentation
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Self-motivated with excellent time management and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and multi-task effectively
• Capable of making informed and accurate recommendations to medical professionals based on current coding information

Schedule: 40 hours per week, day shifts (8-hour shifts). This is a full-time, non-union position.
