Cloud (Senior) Engineer / Architect (m/ w/ d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential technology consultancy seeking a Cloud Engineer or Architect to join their team in Köln. This role offers the chance to work on modern cloud solutions, hybrid infrastructure, and microservices architectures for diverse clients across industries.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and design modern cloud architecture solutions for client organizations
• Design and operate tailored solutions in cloud and hybrid environments, contributing to continuous improvement
• Assess existing application landscapes and develop migration strategies to cloud platforms
• Develop CI/CD pipelines and microservices in collaboration with project teams
• Ensure security, stability, and compliance of IT infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
• Manage build, staging, deployment, and release processes independently
• Provide client consulting both remotely and on-site

What We're Looking For

• Completed degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, or comparable IT qualification
• At least 3-5 years of professional experience in cloud engineering or architecture
• Strong expertise in cloud development and microservices architecture using Kubernetes or OpenShift
• Deep knowledge of networking and storage for hybrid and cloud-native application environments
• Proficiency with DevOps/GitOps/CI/CD tools such as GitHub, GitLab, CircleCI, or Tekton
• Strong software engineering skills in Java/Kotlin with frameworks like Quarkus, Spring Boot, or Micronaut
• Experience with Kafka and event-driven architectures
• Proven use of scripting languages and IaC tools including Ansible, Terraform, Linux/Bash, and Python
• Quality-focused mindset with strong hands-on approach
• Passion for advancing technologies and methodologies
• Excellent presentation and communication skills
• Fluency in both German and English (minimum C1 level, written and spoken)
• Team-oriented with strong initiative and motivation
