Cloud Platform Engineer (m/w/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential cloud infrastructure organization based in Stuttgart that is building a sovereign, self-hosted cloud platform in German data centers. This is a true platform engineering role where you will design and operate the foundation for mission-critical SaaS workloads serving highly regulated clients.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Designing and developing a multi-tenant Kubernetes platform with complete infrastructure control, built on SUSE-based technologies including Harvester and RKE2
• Architecting high-availability cluster solutions with distributed in-memory capabilities, ensuring real-time application performance across nodes
• Building and evolving the tenant isolation architecture, managing lifecycle and security boundaries for dedicated customer environments
• Implementing GitOps workflows using ArgoCD and Fleet for fully automated deployment and day-2 operations
• Developing Infrastructure as Code using Ansible, Terraform, or comparable tooling; implementing Policy as Code for security and governance
• Collaborating with development teams on performance and availability requirements, supporting workload migration to the platform
• Establishing self-service capabilities and platform standards for internal engineering teams
• Processing operational insights from monitoring and incidents to continuously improve stability, security, and performance

What We're Looking For

Must-Have Qualifications:

• Multiple years of experience in cloud engineering, platform engineering, container technologies, or infrastructure automation
• Strong Kubernetes expertise, ideally from operating production multi-cluster environments
• Hands-on experience with GitOps workflows (preferably ArgoCD or Fleet) and Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Ansible, Terraform)
• Fluent German language skills (minimum C1 level) and very good English, both written and spoken
• Willingness to travel for client meetings and visits to additional office locations

Nice-to-Have Experience:

• Familiarity with SUSE stack or comparable Kubernetes management platforms
• Knowledge of DevSecOps practices, Policy as Code, or high-availability architecture patterns
• Experience with monitoring stacks such as Prometheus and Grafana

• Confident communication style, comfortable engaging with both development teams and clients

• Track record of coordinating initiatives across team and client boundaries
