Role Overview
As a Border Patrol Agent with CBP, you'll take on a critical mission protecting U.S. borders and enforcing federal immigration and customs law. This experienced-level position is designed for qualified law enforcement officers whose prior LEO experience may advance your grade level. You'll work full-time in dynamic field and administrative environments, often in demanding conditions, responding to evolving border security challenges with professionalism and dedication.
Your Responsibilities
- Patrol assigned border sectors and areas of responsibility to detect, prevent, and interdict illegal border crossings and smuggling activities
- Conduct interviews, inspections, and interrogations of individuals encountered in border areas and at ports of entry
- Enforce federal immigration, customs, and related laws; process apprehended individuals according to agency protocols
- Operate surveillance equipment, monitoring systems, and detection technology to enhance border awareness
- Prepare detailed reports and maintain accurate records of field operations, incidents, and investigative findings
- Maintain and secure weapons, vehicles, communications equipment, and other agency assets
- Respond to emergency situations, security threats, and requests for assistance from partner agencies
- Work irregular schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts as operational needs require
What You Bring
- Valid U.S. citizenship and a valid driver's license
- Prior law enforcement officer experience demonstrating your capability in this specialized role
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interviews, reporting, and coordination with federal, state, and local partners
- Excellent physical fitness and the ability to work in outdoor, high-stress, and potentially hazardous environments
- Ability to meet medical, vision, and hearing standards required for the position
