What This Role Involves

As a Border Patrol Agent with Customs and Border Protection, you'll serve in a direct law enforcement capacity, enforcing immigration law and detecting unauthorized entry along the Cochise County sector. This is hands-on border security work conducted across varied terrain and in all weather conditions—combining tactical patrol operations, technology-enabled surveillance, and interagency coordination to protect the nation's southern border and detect threats.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct foot and vehicle patrols throughout assigned border sectors to identify and prevent illegal crossing attempts
  • Operate surveillance and monitoring equipment to detect unauthorized activity in real-time
  • Apprehend individuals in violation of immigration law and manage in-custody processing
  • Document cases, maintain investigative records, and prepare reports for law enforcement databases
  • Coordinate with other federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies on border security operations
  • Respond to emergencies and maintain situational awareness in dynamic border environments

Requirements

  • Proven prior law enforcement officer (LEO) experience, which qualifies you for the GL-9 GS-11 position level
  • U.S. citizenship and valid driver's license
  • Pass a thorough federal background investigation, medical evaluation, and drug screening
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance
  • Physical and mental fitness for the demands of border patrol operations
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact effectively with diverse populations
