Responsibilities
We are representing a confidential renewable energy organization seeking a Civil Engineer to lead the planning and permitting process for utility-scale battery storage projects from initial site assessment through building permit approval.
In this role, you will:
- Develop project-specific permitting strategies, identify risks early, and guide land-use planning and environmental approval procedures where required
- Prepare design and approval documentation and take full responsibility for complete building permit application packages through submission
- Coordinate all required specialist reports including noise impact assessments, fire safety, species protection studies, and soil evaluations
- Manage interfaces with municipal and regional regulatory authorities
- Direct external planning consultancies and expert assessors, critically reviewing their deliverables for quality and plausibility
- Hand off approved permits to the project execution team for implementation
What We're Looking For
- Completed degree in Civil Engineering or Architecture
- Minimum 5 years of experience in permitting planning or construction law for energy or infrastructure projects
- Strong working knowledge of German building code (BauGB including § 35), land use ordinance (BauNVO), and emissions control law (BImSchG)
- Proven experience coordinating specialist assessments for noise, fire safety, and species protection
- Track record of independently preparing and submitting building permit applications
- Building permit authorization (Bauvorlageberechtigung) is desirable but not mandatory
- Hands-on mentality: you own the content, steer external consultants, and challenge their work
- Fluent German and good English language skills
