Backend Software Engineer – AI Finance Agent

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech client in Singapore that is building next-generation financial infrastructure. Our talent team is searching for a Backend Software Engineer to join their core engineering organization and help build scalable systems that power modern financial products across multiple markets.

This is a remote position based in Singapore. Candidates must already be located in Singapore.

Responsibilities

• Build backend services, APIs and workflows for mobile financial applications
• Design reliable systems for user accounts, transactions, partner integrations, reconciliation, notifications and operations
• Support products across insurance, payments, digital wallet, savings, investing, travel and financial services
• Integrate with banks, payment gateways, insurers, data providers and third-party partners
• Collaborate with product and mobile teams to deliver customer-facing features efficiently
• Improve system reliability, observability, security and performance across production environments
• Build practical, auditable systems ready for regulated financial products
• Take ownership of production issues and ensure long-term system reliability

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of backend engineering experience in production environments
• Strong fundamentals in APIs, databases, system design and production debugging
• Proven experience building scalable services and integrating third-party systems
• Solid understanding of security, reliability, data quality and operational edge cases
• Ability to make practical trade-offs between speed, quality and risk
• Experience working collaboratively with product, mobile, operations and business teams
• Strong English communication skills required for global team collaboration
• Experience in fintech, payments, insurance, lending, banking or regulated products is a strong advantage
• Track record of building systems that work in real-world production, not just theoretical designs
• Demonstrated ability to think through edge cases, failure modes and operational impact
