Senior Data Engineer – Real time analytics

About This Opportunity

We are representing a high-growth, AI-powered communications technology company seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join their Analytics & Data Platform team in Paris. Our client operates at significant scale, serving thousands of enterprise customers globally with a modern cloud-native stack.

This is a hands-on role where you'll build and optimize real-time analytics infrastructure that directly powers product features used by customers worldwide. You'll work with streaming data platforms, distributed systems, and modern data warehousing to deliver low-latency insights at scale.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver scalable, low-latency streaming platform solutions for near real-time data processing
• Analyze business requirements and translate them into optimized data models for big data environments
• Build and maintain data pipelines using Scala, Python, and SQL with focus on performance and reliability
• Optimize query performance and identify bottlenecks in large-scale analytical workloads
• Implement solutions using AWS services (Kinesis, Kafka, Redshift, EMR, EKS), Apache Pinot, Apache Flink, and Airflow
• Contribute to product and platform performance optimization with live site monitoring
• Mentor team members through code reviews and actionable technical feedback
• Ship production code through continuous deployment pipelines built on GitLab

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related technical field
• 5+ years of experience with modern programming languages such as Scala, Python, Go, or TypeScript
• 3+ years of hands-on experience building near real-time analytics systems
• Proven experience designing complex data processing pipelines at scale
• Strong background in data modeling (star schema, dimensional modeling) with AWS Redshift
• Demonstrated expertise in query optimization for analytical workloads
• Experience with Kafka is a plus
• Track record of shipping and maintaining production code
• Collaborative mindset with enthusiasm for sharing ideas and receiving feedback
• Located in or willing to relocate to Paris
