About This Position

Citi seeks an experienced AVP Senior Hadoop Data Developer to spearhead the design, development, and deployment of robust distributed data solutions. Working from our Irving, Texas location, you'll take ownership of critical data platforms that process massive volumes of financial information. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with strategic oversight—you'll architect innovative solutions, guide a team of engineers, and stay actively involved in code design and infrastructure decisions.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable Hadoop-based data processing systems and ETL pipelines for enterprise use
• Architect distributed systems solutions that handle massive-scale data workloads reliably and efficiently
• Write and optimize production code in Java, Python, Scala, or related languages for big data environments
• Lead code reviews and mentor junior developers on distributed systems best practices and design patterns
• Collaborate with data engineering, analytics, and infrastructure teams to deliver integrated data solutions
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot production issues, and implement performance optimizations
• Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies to enhance data platform capabilities

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software development experience with at least 4 years focused on Hadoop or similar distributed data systems
• Deep expertise in Hadoop ecosystem technologies such as HDFS, MapReduce, Spark, Hive, or equivalent platforms
• Strong programming proficiency in Java, Python, Scala, C++, or comparable languages
• Demonstrated experience designing and building large-scale data pipelines and ETL processes
• Solid understanding of distributed systems principles, data architecture, and system design patterns
• Experience with SQL and relational database technologies
• Proven leadership capability and track record mentoring technical teams
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
