About This Position
You'll work as a 1099 independent contractor specializing in the appraisal of vehicles and heavy equipment for insurance purposes. In this role, you conduct thorough on-site inspections, document damage systematically, and generate detailed, defensible appraisals that guide claims decisions. Your work directly impacts claim resolution timelines and ensures fair, accurate settlements for all parties. This position offers the independence and earning potential of contracting while maintaining full-time engagement with CCMS & Associates.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Perform in-person field inspections of damaged automobiles and heavy equipment at various locations throughout Lexington and surrounding areas
- Document damage comprehensively using photographs, measurements, and detailed written observations
- Calculate repair costs based on current market rates, parts availability, and labor standards
- Prepare detailed, professional appraisal reports for insurance carriers and claimants
- Communicate findings clearly with adjusters, claims managers, and other stakeholders
- Maintain accurate records and meet deadlines for claims assignment turnaround
Who We're Looking For
- Proven experience appraising automotive or heavy equipment damage
- Strong knowledge of vehicle and equipment construction, repair procedures, and industry standards
- Ability to operate independently, manage your schedule, and meet deadlines
- Excellent written communication and attention to detail in report documentation
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Professional demeanor and ability to collaborate with insurance professionals and claimants
