Worcester Public Schools invites experienced volleyball coaches to apply for the Girls JV Volleyball Coach position at South High School in Worcester, Worcester County. This full-time coaching role runs through the fall 2026 season, from August 21 through November 21, and reports to both the Building Principal and the Director of Intramural and Interscholastic Athletics.
About the Role
You'll lead South High School's JV volleyball program, building a competitive team while prioritizing player development and positive athletic culture. The Director of Intramural and Interscholastic Athletics will conduct a pre-season coaching meeting to establish shared priorities, resources, and expectations before your athletes take the court.
What You'll Do
- Plan and deliver daily practice sessions emphasizing fundamental skills, conditioning, court positioning, and game strategy
- Coach matches and provide tactical direction and constructive feedback to players
- Develop individual player technique, understanding of game flow, and volleyball intelligence
- Create a team environment centered on respect, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Manage equipment and court facilities according to school safety protocols
- Communicate with players, families, and school leadership about team progress and expectations
- Contribute to Worcester Public Schools' commitment to balancing athletic excellence with academic success
What We're Looking For
- Current coaching certification or genuine willingness to pursue it
- Proven experience coaching high school volleyball or equivalent competitive background
- Solid understanding of offensive systems, defensive formations, player roles, and match management
- Excellent communication and mentoring abilities
- Collaborative approach to working with school staff and supporting student-athlete development
- Clearance to meet Worcester Public Schools background check requirements
