Special Services Teacher – 1.0 FTE – Shakopee High School

Shakopee School District invites qualified educators to join Shakopee High School as a Special Services Teacher in a full-time, 1.0 FTE position for the 2026-27 school year. This is your opportunity to deliver impactful special education instruction in a supportive secondary environment.

About the Role

You'll provide comprehensive special education services to high school students through a combination of resource room instruction and co-taught classroom support. This position centers on personalizing learning experiences, fostering student independence, and ensuring all learners have access to rigorous, standards-aligned curriculum. You'll be part of a collaborative team dedicated to helping students achieve their academic and transition goals.

What You'll Do

• Design and deliver direct small-group and individual instruction aligned with each student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP)
• Co-teach in general education courses, providing scaffolded support and accommodations to help students access grade-level content
• Assess student learning needs and progress toward IEP goals using data-driven instruction
• Develop, implement, and monitor strategies that build academic skills and executive function
• Maintain accurate special education documentation and ensure IEP compliance
• Partner with general education teachers, families, and school staff to align services and celebrate student growth
• Support transitions planning and functional life skills development as appropriate

What We're Looking For

• Current Minnesota special education teaching license or equivalent certification
• Bachelor's degree (or higher) in special education, education, or related field
• Experience or demonstrated strength working with adolescents with diverse learning and support needs
• Strong skills in curriculum adaptation, differentiation, and Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities with students, families, and colleagues
• Commitment to creating an inclusive, respectful learning environment
