About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential infrastructure consultancy seeking an Associate Director to lead major transport asset management engagements across the United Kingdom. This is a strategic role combining client delivery leadership with business development responsibility. You will act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders within transport infrastructure organizations, shaping solutions to complex asset management challenges while driving sustainable growth for our client's practice.

The successful candidate will lead multidisciplinary teams on high-value commissions, manage executive-level relationships, and leverage their professional network to originate new work across the rail, highways, aviation, and ports sectors.

Responsibilities

• Lead major client commissions with full accountability for delivery excellence, client satisfaction, and commercial performance
• Serve as Engagement Director for complex programmes and strategic advisory work across transport infrastructure
• Build and maintain trusted relationships with C-suite and senior leadership teams
• Direct multidisciplinary teams to deliver measurable value and high-quality outcomes
• Develop innovative, pragmatic solutions addressing asset management, infrastructure performance, and organisational challenges
• Grow key client accounts by identifying and developing additional opportunities within existing relationships
• Originate and secure new work using market insight and professional networks
• Support and lead proposals, bids, and strategic pursuits
• Represent the practice at industry conferences, client events, and professional forums
• Contribute to thought leadership and help shape service offerings
• Coach, mentor, and develop consultants and future leaders within the team
• Support recruitment and retention of exceptional talent

What We're Looking For

Essential:

• Significant experience within the transport sector gained through infrastructure owners, operators, consultancies, or a combination
• Demonstrable experience leading complex consulting engagements, transformation programmes, or infrastructure improvement initiatives
• Strong client relationship management skills with ability to influence senior stakeholders and executive teams
• Proven track record growing client accounts and securing repeat or expanded commissions
• Commercial awareness with experience managing project performance, revenue, and profitability
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation capabilities
• Experience leading, developing, and mentoring high-performing teams

Highly Desirable:

• Established network across rail, highways, aviation, ports, or wider transport infrastructure organisations
• Experience in asset management, infrastructure strategy, asset information, investment planning, or organisational transformation
• Recognised industry profile through professional institutions, conferences, publications, or industry forums
• Track record winning consultancy work and converting opportunities into long-term client relationships
