Senior Software Engineer – Mongo & Elastic

We are representing a confidential retail technology organization seeking a Senior Software Engineer with deep expertise in search and data infrastructure. Our client operates at significant scale, serving millions of users daily, and is looking for an engineer who can independently develop, refactor, and optimize systems that directly impact customer and employee experiences.

This role offers the opportunity to work on high-impact products while mentoring junior engineers and contributing to architectural decisions. You'll be part of a collaborative engineering team that values continuous learning and modern development practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, deploy, and maintain production software with a clear focus on business value and user needs
• Build and maintain search infrastructure using technologies like Elastic Search, Mongo Atlas, or Apache Solr
• Design and implement comprehensive test suites (functional, destructive, integration) to enable rapid, confident deployments
• Work within agile processes to deliver features that are valuable, well-defined, and testable
• Contribute to product and tool selection, configuration, security, resilience, and performance tuning
• Monitor production systems and respond to performance or availability issues with urgency
• Mentor less experienced engineers on modern frameworks, best practices, and technical architecture
• Take on new challenges with energy and enthusiasm, achieving results even under tight deadlines

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of relevant software engineering experience
• Strong experience with search technologies (Elastic Search, Mongo Atlas, or Apache Solr)
• Proficiency in Java Spring Boot development
• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably GCP
• Ability to write efficient SQL queries against relational databases
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience
• Track record of learning through experimentation and adapting approaches based on results
• Excellent communication skills with ability to collaborate across diverse teams
• Experience working in agile environments and delivering production-grade software
• Must be legally permitted to work in the United States
