Associate Data Scientist (f/m/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a well-funded technology company in the real estate sustainability space, operating in the DACH region. Our client is building AI-driven analytical solutions that transform how institutional real estate organizations make investment and asset management decisions. This is an early-stage, high-impact role where your work will directly shape product capabilities used by major clients across the industry.

As an Associate Data Scientist, you will develop the statistical models, machine learning algorithms, and simulations that power the platform. You'll work at the intersection of data science and real estate, tackling concrete problems around building energy efficiency, decarbonization, and investment optimization.

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine analytical models, ML models, and simulations to solve specific challenges in real estate and energy management
• Build and optimize data extraction pipelines for both structured and unstructured sources, ensuring accuracy and reliability
• Continuously explore and evaluate new data sources to improve model performance
• Validate data quality, identify gaps, and assess model performance by comparing assumptions and outputs against real-world data and expert feedback
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into data-driven solutions
• Document your work thoroughly to ensure models are reproducible and maintainable
• Communicate technical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field
• 1-2 years of practical experience with programming, ideally in Python, through projects involving physics-based modeling, machine learning, or data pipelines
• Structured, independent approach to problem-solving
• Ability to take ownership of well-defined analytical problems and deliver robust solutions
• Curiosity about the business context and ability to translate results into product and customer impact
• Strong English communication skills; German is advantageous

Bonus qualifications:

• Experience with optimization methods, LLM-based data extraction, or uncertainty and sensitivity analysis
• Familiarity with real estate, building physics, or energy systems
• Experience with TypeScript for product prototyping
• Knowledge of tools for physical simulation or energy modeling
