AppSec Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a high-growth SaaS organization seeking an AppSec Engineer to join their expanding security team. This is a development and cloud-focused role for someone passionate about application security, cloud environments, and AI-enabled security practices. The ideal candidate will be a skilled communicator and relationship builder capable of embedding security practices across the organization and into development processes. You'll work with teams that embrace AI as a force multiplier while maintaining strong security fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Partner with development teams to ensure security is embedded from feature design through deployment, participating in design reviews and threat modeling sessions
• Balance delivery needs with security requirements and communicate risks effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Identify and assess security risks introduced by AI tools, reviewing AI tooling usage, integration, and AI-generated code
• Apply AI-assisted tooling to accelerate security work across triage, threat detection, code review, and documentation
• Work across multiple security domains including application security, cloud security, and corporate IT security processes
• Configure and tune SAST, SCA, and DAST tooling within build/deployment pipelines
• Triage security issues and reports, assist teams with remediation, and test fixes
• Work with external penetration testing companies to validate and prioritize findings
• Implement security-focused alerting, detections, and automations
• Conduct risk and vulnerability assessments of web applications, APIs, and third-party integrations
• Facilitate organizational and developer-focused security training
• Contribute to security metrics tracking and roadmap planning

What We're Looking For

Required Experience:

• 4+ years in a security or development role with hands-on experience across application security domains
• Proven experience collaborating with development teams to review designs and implementations for security issues
• Strong communication skills, both spoken and written
• Experience with at least one of the following languages/frameworks: Microsoft.NET/C#, JavaScript (React, EmberJS), or Python
• Working knowledge of at least one major cloud platform (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
• Proficiency with PowerShell or Bash and Python
• Hands-on experience with at least one AI development tool (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot)
• Experience with Burp Suite or similar security testing tools
• Background working with build/deployment pipelines (GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps YAML-based pipelines preferred)

Nice to Have:

• Certifications such as OSCP, AWAE, GIAC, Burp Practitioner, PJPT, or Microsoft/AWS cloud certifications
• Experience securing AI applications, systems, and AI tooling
• Background with EDR alerts and MDM operational security
