About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential AI technology organization seeking an Applied AI Engineer to work with enterprise software engineering teams in London. This is a hands-on role where you'll design, build, and deploy AI-powered development workflows that transform how engineering organizations write, test, and deliver software.

You'll partner directly with engineering leaders and developers to implement production AI coding systems, combining deep technical skills with customer leadership. This position requires 3 days per week in the London office, with relocation assistance available.

Responsibilities

• Partner with engineering leaders to identify high-value opportunities for AI coding tools and translate them into technical architectures, implementation plans, and evaluation strategies
• Design and build AI-powered software development workflows that improve how teams plan, write, test, review, debug, and deliver code
• Work hands-on to build prototypes, evaluation systems, reference implementations, integrations, and production accelerators
• Guide customers from experimentation to reliable production workflows with sustained developer adoption and measurable impact
• Design systematic evaluation approaches using representative engineering tasks, automated graders, production signals, and developer feedback
• Make technical decisions across models, agents, tools, developer environments, integrations, reliability, observability, latency, cost, and security
• Diagnose complex implementation challenges, reproduce failures, and drive technical blockers toward resolution
• Lead technical workshops and hands-on enablement sessions to help engineering teams adopt advanced AI coding workflows safely
• Translate real-world deployment insights into product proposals and technical requirements for internal teams
• Create reusable architectures, tooling, examples, and technical patterns that accelerate future deployments

What We're Looking For

• Demonstrated track record designing, building, and delivering software or AI systems in enterprise environments, including production deployments
• Substantial personal contributions in code, architecture, evaluation, debugging, integrations, or production engineering
• High proficiency in Python and comfort across modern software development environments; experience with JavaScript or TypeScript is valuable
• Active user of AI coding tools with a strong point of view on how AI can improve developer productivity
• Experience building prototypes, integrations, automations, and production solutions
• Understanding of systematic evaluation for AI coding systems, including designing representative tasks and automated evaluations
• Experience navigating enterprise production requirements including developer tooling integrations, reliability, observability, security, privacy, and performance
• Ability to connect technical decisions to developer workflows, adoption, and measurable business outcomes
• Clear communication skills across engineers, engineering leaders, security teams, and executives
• Comfort leading technical workshops and hands-on sessions
• High agency, strong technical judgment, and end-to-end ownership in ambiguous environments
• Fluent English required
