AI Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech client in London who is building next-generation financial software. They're looking for an AI Engineer to join their early-stage engineering team and ship production features that leverage large language models in meaningful ways.

This is a senior-level role for builders who work end-to-end and prioritize shipping working software over perfecting prototypes. Our client has moved to an AI-native development culture where the bottleneck has shifted from writing code to solving the right problems.

Responsibilities

• Build production AI features from concept to deployment, working across the full stack
• Implement solutions using large language models that deliver real value to end users
• Ship iteratively in small batches, learning from customer feedback and adapting quickly
• Collaborate across engineering, product, and design to identify where AI genuinely improves the user experience
• Contribute to a Kotlin backend and React frontend in a high-stakes production environment
• Maintain high standards for data integrity and system reliability in financial software

What We're Looking For

• 7–10 years of software engineering experience with a track record of shipping production systems
• Hands-on experience building features or products on top of large language models in production environments
• Genuinely AI-native approach to work—you've fundamentally changed how you build software, not just added AI as a side tool
• Comfortable working across the stack; experience with or willingness to learn Kotlin and React
• Product-minded engineering: you care about the end user and notice when something feels off, even if it technically works
• Bias toward shipping early and iterating rather than perfecting features in isolation
• Strong instinct for where AI helps, where it misleads, and how to use it without losing ownership

Bonus experience:

• Fintech or other domains where data integrity is critical
• Familiarity with accounting concepts (debits, credits, reconciliation)
• High-growth startup environments
• Experience building AI agents
• AWS, Terraform, or similar infrastructure
