AI Platform Engineer

Continental is hiring an AI Platform Engineer for a full-time remote position based in Lousado, Braga, Portugal. This is an opportunity to build and maintain the infrastructure powering artificial intelligence initiatives across a global manufacturing and automotive technology company.

The Opportunity

As an AI Platform Engineer at Continental, you will design, develop, and operate platforms that enable teams across the organisation to build, deploy, and scale machine learning solutions. You will work at the intersection of software engineering and data science, translating business requirements into robust, scalable systems. This role offers the chance to shape how AI capabilities are delivered across Continental's operations, working with modern cloud infrastructure and containerised architectures in a collaborative, innovation-focused environment.

What You'll Do

• Architect and maintain AI/ML platforms and infrastructure that support model development, training, and deployment workflows
• Design APIs, data pipelines, and service layers that enable data scientists and engineers to work efficiently
• Implement monitoring, logging, and observability solutions to ensure platform reliability and performance
• Collaborate with data science teams to optimise model serving and inference pipelines for production environments
• Manage containerisation, orchestration, and deployment processes across development and production systems
• Contribute to platform documentation, code reviews, and engineering best practices

Skills & Qualifications

• Strong software engineering foundation with proficiency in Python, Java, or similar languages
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerisation technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
• Familiarity with machine learning frameworks, model management tools, or MLOps practices
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, databases, and data pipeline architecture
• Experience with CI/CD tooling and infrastructure-as-code approaches
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with engineers and data scientists
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
