Resident Project Representative

Trilongroup is recruiting a Resident Project Representative to provide construction site oversight and quality assurance for government and municipal infrastructure projects in Big Stone Gap. This full-time, on-site position plays a critical role in ensuring public sector construction work meets all technical and contractual standards.

Role Overview

As the Resident Project Representative, you'll serve as the project engineer's on-site representative, delivering daily construction observation and compliance monitoring. Your presence in the field ensures that design intent is realized, contract specifications are met, and all stakeholders remain informed throughout the construction process. You'll work independently to identify issues early, document findings, and coordinate solutions across the project team.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Observe and inspect construction activities to confirm compliance with plans, specifications, and contractual requirements
• Verify that materials, workmanship, and installation methods meet established standards and codes
• Prepare detailed field reports, daily logs, and documentation of construction progress and site conditions
• Communicate findings and recommendations to project engineers, managers, and contractors
• Coordinate scheduling, sequencing, and logistics with project stakeholders
• Train and supervise junior field staff and inspection personnel as assigned
• Flag deviations, safety concerns, or potential non-compliance issues for corrective action
• Operate with autonomy, exercising professional judgment to manage field challenges

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Demonstrated experience in construction inspection, field engineering, or on-site project coordination
• Solid understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry safety standards
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents
• Strong written and oral communication skills for report writing and stakeholder coordination
• Reliable transportation and valid driver's license
• Comfort working outdoors in varying weather and site conditions
• Professional demeanor and strong attention to detail
