Registered Nurse (RN), On Call 7 On 7 Off Hospice

Phoenix Home Care and Hospice is seeking a compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) for a full-time, on-call hospice position serving patients and families in Overland Park, Kansas. This is an opportunity to deliver skilled, patient-centered end-of-life nursing care in home settings while working a 7 days on, 7 days off rotation.

What This Role Involves

As an on-call Registered Nurse in our hospice program, you'll provide holistic, compassionate care to patients navigating end-of-life transitions. During your assigned on-call weeks, you'll respond to patient needs, coordinate with the interdisciplinary care team, manage symptom relief, and support families through this profound time. This role bridges clinical expertise with emotional presence—meeting patients where they are and honoring their wishes for comfort and dignity.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough patient assessments and monitor vital signs and symptom changes
• Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and care plans
• Collaborate with physicians, social workers, chaplains, and aides to coordinate comprehensive hospice care
• Educate patients and family members about comfort measures and disease progression
• Maintain detailed, accurate patient records and communicate updates to the care team
• Respond promptly to on-call requests during scheduled weeks to address patient and family needs
• Provide emotional support and advocacy for patients and their loved ones

Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kansas
• Experience in hospice, palliative care, or end-of-life nursing (or strong interest in developing this specialty)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Compassion and patience working with seriously ill patients and their families
• Ability to respond to on-call requests and manage the 7 on, 7 off schedule
• Current CPR certification
• Willingness to pass a background check
