About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential public sector consultancy seeking a talented consultant to join their team in Mainz. Our client works on high-impact digital transformation projects across German public administration, helping government entities modernize their services and processes. This role offers flexibility to work from the Mainz office or remotely from anywhere in Germany.

As part of our client's consulting unit, you'll play a key role in shaping how public sector organizations deliver digital services to citizens and businesses. You'll work on projects implementing administrative digitalization initiatives, helping eliminate bureaucratic burdens and streamline government processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to IT consulting projects for public sector clients at federal, state, and municipal levels
• Guide government organizations through digital transformation initiatives
• Support the design of strategies, organizational structures, and processes for public administration bodies
• Collaborate with project teams to gather client requirements and develop innovative solution strategies and concepts
• Accompany the introduction of new IT solutions from preparation through piloting, testing, and go-live
• Facilitate workshops, information sessions, and training programs for diverse stakeholders
• Prepare clear documentation including guidelines, handbooks, and materials for governance processes
• Support post-implementation activities including user support, feedback collection, and transition to stable operations
• Participate in continuous professional development and team knowledge sharing

What We're Looking For

• Completed degree in political science, public administration, administrative informatics, law, business informatics, or another relevant background that qualifies you for this field
• Initial practical experience in consulting or IT project management; experience with public administration is particularly valued
• Strong understanding of project planning and management; familiarity with PM methodologies is ideal
• Enthusiasm for supporting the implementation of new IT solutions through all project phases
• Excellent communication skills with ability to engage different users and stakeholders during change processes
• Capability to translate complex content into clear, accessible formats for various audiences
• Technical understanding and interest in system implementation topics including configuration, interfaces, data migration, customization, and testing
• Forward-thinking approach considering post-launch support, user feedback, and operational stability
• Interest in administrative digitalization and how modern IT services are successfully introduced in public organizations
• Knowledge of e-government frameworks, data protection, or IT service management is a plus, but willingness to learn these topics is more important
• German language proficiency required for this role
