About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential data platform company seeking a Sales Engineer to join their London team. This is a core technical sales role where you'll partner with enterprise data leaders to demonstrate how modern data management solutions can transform their analytics and AI initiatives.
As Sales Engineer, you'll be the technical anchor of the sales process—working alongside Account Executives to qualify opportunities, run discovery sessions with data and engineering teams, and deliver proof-of-value engagements that turn evaluators into advocates.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Account Executives on deal strategy and technical qualification
- Conduct technical discovery with business data teams and engineering stakeholders, mapping their challenges to platform capabilities
- Own end-to-end proof-of-value engagements, from defining success criteria through final demonstration
- Deliver customized demos tailored to prospect environments and use cases
- Serve as the trusted technical advisor for prospects throughout the evaluation process
- Channel customer feedback and technical requirements back to Product and Engineering teams
- Create reusable demo environments, playbooks, and sales enablement assets
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of proven experience in pre-sales, solutions engineering, or sales engineering roles
- Strong background in data, analytics, or developer-focused software
- Fluency with modern data stack technologies such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, dbt, Looker, or Tableau
- Strong SQL skills and ability to work hands-on with data platforms
- Exceptional communication skills—comfortable presenting to both engineering teams and executive stakeholders
- Ability to translate technical capabilities into clear business value
- Self-starter mentality with strong ownership instincts; you move deals forward proactively
- Bonus: Experience in data quality, observability, or governance domains
- Bonus: Track record building pre-sales motion at early-stage companies
