Senior UX Researcher/ Designer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential edtech organization seeking a Senior UX Researcher/Designer for their Leeds office. This role sits within a funded innovation division focused on learner experience—a zero-to-one environment within an established business. You'll lead foundational research that shapes product direction before design begins, while also contributing hands-on design work to ship meaningful solutions.

Our client values research depth in ambiguous, early-stage problems and seeks someone comfortable translating insights directly into elegant, accessible user experiences.

Responsibilities

• Foundational Generative Research: Lead exploratory research to build evidence-based understanding of learners, their needs, behaviors, and unmet problems in early-stage problem spaces; establish continuous discovery practices
• Methodological Rigor & Infrastructure: Apply structured research methodology, study design, sampling strategies, and bias mitigation; build a robust research repository and knowledge base to compound insights over time
• Cross-Functional Insight Sharing: Communicate generative insights clearly with Product Management, UX Design, and Growth Marketing to shape decisions, product directions, and commercial positioning
• Design Delivery: Dedicate approximately 30% of capacity to translating research insights directly into simple, elegant, production-ready, highly accessible user experience design solutions
• Team Collaboration & Growth: Work closely with the Lead UX Designer to manage and balance capacity; mentor colleagues to raise research maturity across the team

What We're Looking For

Essential qualifications and experience:

• Generative Research Expertise: Strong skills in foundational research methods including interview design, diary studies, sacrificial concepts, prototyping, Jobs-to-be-Done frameworks, and segmentation research
• Methodological Precision: Proven ability to apply structured study design, sampling strategy, bias mitigation, and synthesis frameworks that transform findings into actionable insights
• Hands-on Design Delivery: Comfortable dedicating approximately 30% of time to executing high-quality, elegant, shippable design solutions utilizing design systems
• Accessibility Standards: Experience designing and researching inclusively to meet WCAG standards for diverse access requirements
• Collaboration & Mentorship: Passionate about sharing knowledge, mentoring peers to raise research maturity, and providing direct, empathetic feedback

Bonus skills:

• Familiarity researching and designing for AI-mediated interactions, including balancing AI visibility, user control, and trust-building
• Intentional and effective use of AI tools in your practice for synthesis, prototyping, or exploring directions faster
