Senior Software Engineer (m/f/x)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential AI technology organization based in Munich that is advancing how enterprises adopt and operationalize artificial intelligence solutions across Europe. Our talent team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Engineering function and establish production-grade standards for agentic AI systems.

This is not an AI research role. Our client needs someone who understands how professional software gets built, shipped, and maintained in enterprise environments. You will bring engineering discipline to AI solutions—ensuring they survive contact with large organizations through solid architecture, reliable operations, and clear handover processes. You will grow your understanding of agentic systems while working alongside a team already deep in that domain.

Responsibilities

• Design technical approaches for system components from build and test through deployment and operation, including documentation that enables third parties to run solutions independently
• Shape development practices: issue workflows, branching and review standards, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, security checks, and release management
• Build classical software infrastructure around AI cores—services, APIs, data pipelines, infrastructure as code, primarily in Python on Azure
• Ensure solutions are operable within enterprise IT landscapes: observability, failure behavior, security posture, and cost transparency
• Provide specialist guidance that influences technical decisions across workstreams and raise engineering standards through design and code reviews
• Communicate technical trade-offs clearly to senior client stakeholders, explaining what architectures and operating models cost and enable

What We're Looking For

• 8+ years building software that reached production and remained operational, ideally in a product organization with strong release discipline
• Deep working knowledge of the professional software development lifecycle: issue tracking (e.g., Jira), code review standards, CI/CD, automated testing, security scanning, versioning, and release processes
• Strong Python skills, confidence with Azure, and hands-on experience with containers and infrastructure as code
• Experience either handing systems over to separate operations teams or operating systems long enough to understand what effective handover requires
• Some exposure to GenAI or agentic systems with genuine curiosity to deepen expertise; deep AI knowledge is explicitly not required
• Composure in fast-moving, ambiguous environments
• Ability to explain technical trade-offs clearly to senior stakeholders in English; German is a plus
