Cloud Platform Engineer (m/w/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential technology organization building a sovereign cloud platform in German data centers. This is a green-field project with full architectural control, designed to serve highly regulated clients including insurers and public sector entities.

You will design and evolve the multi-tenant cloud platform:

• Architect and build highly available Kubernetes clusters using modern open-source tooling, including networking, storage, load balancing, and authentication layers
• Design and implement tenant isolation concepts, ensuring each client receives dedicated environments with complete lifecycle management
• Develop high-availability concepts including distributed in-memory architectures that maintain real-time application performance
• Collaborate with development teams on performance and availability requirements for cluster and tenant architecture

You will automate infrastructure and standardize deployment:

• Implement GitOps workflows using tools like ArgoCD and Fleet for Day 0 through Day 2 operations
• Build Infrastructure as Code pipelines with Ansible, Terraform, or comparable tools
• Establish Policy as Code frameworks for security and governance
• Integrate and standardize CI/CD processes across teams

You will enable internal teams and support operations:

• Provide platform engineering support, building self-service capabilities and onboarding standards for development teams
• Guide workload migration to the cloud platform
• Process insights from monitoring data and incidents to continuously improve stability, security, and performance

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Several years of experience in cloud or platform engineering, container technologies, or infrastructure automation
• Strong Kubernetes expertise, ideally from operating production multi-cluster environments
• Hands-on experience with GitOps workflows (ArgoCD or Fleet preferred) and Infrastructure as Code tooling such as Ansible or Terraform
• Fluent German (minimum C1 level) and strong English communication skills
• Willingness to travel occasionally for client meetings and team collaboration

Valued:

• Experience with SUSE stack or comparable Kubernetes management platforms
• Knowledge of DevSecOps practices, Policy as Code, or high-availability architecture patterns
• Familiarity with monitoring stacks such as Prometheus and Grafana
